Fighting Fourth for Camden Mclellan at MXGP of the Netherlands

Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing’s Camden McLellan has finished in an impressive fourth overall at the MXGP of the Netherlands, round 17 of the 2025 MX2 World Championship. After placing fifth in the opening moto, McLellan led several laps in race two before securing second to underline his talent. Camden’s teammate, Guillem Farres, also delivered a strong performance, ending the weekend eighth overall.
Arnhem in the Netherlands hosted the 17th round of the current campaign with both riders arriving focused on having a successful weekend. The sand circuit quickly became rough and rutted during Saturday, and in the qualifying race, McLellan finished fifth with Farres in ninth.
A strong start by McLellan aboard his TF 250-X in Sunday’s first Grand Prix race saw him run fifth early on before slipping to sixth. A few laps later he was back up to fifth, but with little to separate the riders, and with very few passing opportunities, the South African was unable to make further progress.
The opening laps of race two were much more exciting. After starting third, Camden quickly moved into the lead and controlled the race until defending MX2 World Champion Kay de Wolf moved him back to second. For the remaining laps of the moto, McLellan kept de Wolf in sight and crossed the finish line just under two seconds adrift of the race victory. On the day, Camden missed the overall podium by just two points and remains sixth in the championship standings.
Farres also showed impressive speed during race one as he shadowed his teammate for much of the moto. By race end, however, he’d dropped to ninth. The Spaniard rebounded nicely in moto two. After running wide in the first turn, Guillem made several passes on the opening lap to move into ninth, and advanced to eighth later in the race. Placing eighth in the moto secured eighth overall, with Guillem continuing to maintain ninth in the championship.
The 2025 MX2 World Championship continues with the MXGP of Turkey on September 6-7 before concluding with rounds in China and Australia.

“That’s the MXGP of the Netherlands wrapped up here in Arnhem. A really physical weekend, a tough track, and we ended on a good note with second in moto two. I’ve improved all weekend so that’s positive, my starts were good too, and now it’s onto the final three rounds on the hardpack.”
Guillem Farres
“I felt good all weekend in the sand, and I had good pace in race one, but I dropped back a little before the end and finished ninth. That was a little frustrating as I had some good speed in the middle of the moto. My start in race two was good, but I went wide in the first turn and got buried in the pack. I got back to eighth, which isn’t where I want to be, but it was a good charge through the field.”
Vincent Bereni – Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager
“Round 17 is done and we knew it was going to be a tough one. During the week, Guillem picked up a back injury, but our physio did an amazing job to get him ready for this GP. So, for him to finish eighth overall, it’s been a good weekend for him considering how things have been this week. Camden just missed the podium today, which was a shame for him as he rode really well in race two. He led the moto and then followed Kay de Wolf to the finish after he lost the lead to him. It’s been a satisfying weekend and both riders fought hard for their results. To finish the season, we have three overseas races and the goal is to get both riders on the podium as much as possible.”
